Ingredients
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup grated onion
1 teaspoon dried oregano
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
3 minced garlic cloves
1 28-ounce can of crushed tomatoes
1/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
Instructions
Allow butter to melt in a medium saucepan over medium heat
Once melted, add the onion, oregano, salt, and red pepper flakes.
After about 5 minutes (onion should be browned slightly), add the garlic and stir.
After about 2 minutes add the tomatoes, and sugar.
Turn the heat down to low-medium and allow it to simmer until it thickens (about 30 minutes).
Remove from heat and set aside.
Tips
Use sauce within 2 days of making.
You can freeze for up to 2 months.
